On June 23,2024, at the 44th Annual Meeting of the Japan Venous Forum held on June 23, 2024, we reported on our hospital’s developed foot care program, which quantitatively evaluated and demonstrated improvement effects for functional venous insufficiency (commonly known as edema patients).

It was reported that 35% of chronic venous insufficiency patients have asymptomatic ischemic heart disease of moderate-severe nature with coronary artery calcium scores of 100 or higher, emphasizing the importance of patient and primary care physician awareness.

On May 10, 2024, at the joint session of the 2023 American Vein and Lymphatic Society and International Union of Phlebology (UIP) in Miami, we presented findings that our poster session won third place, demonstrating not only improvement in edema of the operated leg in patients undergoing lower extremity varicose vein surgery but also improvement in edema of the non-treated leg and trunk.

On April 15, 2024, two presentations were accepted at the 24th European Venous Forum:

• “Utility Of Coronary Artery Calcium Score For Risk Assessment In Patients With Chronic Venous Insufficiency: A Retrospective Cohort Study”
These have been selected for ePoster presentation at the 24th annual scientific meeting of the EVF, to be held at the Royal Olympic Hotel, Athens, Greece, from June 27-29, 2024. They were also accepted for presentation at the 44th Annual Meeting of the Japan Venous Forum.
On February 12, 2024, the relationship between lower limb veins and systemic conditions was highlighted as an important theme. In September 2023, at the joint meeting of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society and World Venous Forum (AVLS and UIP 2023) in Miami, our presentation in poster session won third place. It demonstrated that lower extremity varicose veins can cause systemic edema, and postoperative treatment not only reduced swelling in the treated leg but also decreased trunk and systemic edema, as evidenced by changes in extracellular fluid volume. Various symptoms in different parts of the body, such as facial and hand swelling, improved postoperatively in 30% of patients.
